Dressage at Devon is one of the largest breed show in the USA. The individual breed classes will be held on Tuesday, September 26th. The Parade of Breeds will take place at the conclusion of the classes (usually late afternoon/evening), at which time the winners of each class are invited back into the Dixon Oval as a group to receive a special rosette. The announcer will share a short description of the history or highlights of each breed.

Day 3 of the show continues with a focus on breeding and education.
Dressage at Devon is proud to host the East Coast Series Final for breeding. Classes include current year Foal final, Filly final, Colt/Gelding final, 4 year old Sport Horse prospect, Mare Final, Stallion final and Materiale classes for 3 , 4, 5 year old championships.
Thursday afternoon in the Wheeler ring we begin the transition to the Performance show with the national Young Horses classes. These test are specifically designed to show a young horse potential for dressage. A panel of judges will look at the athleticism, basic paces and general impression of the horse as a dressage prospect. General impression includes temperament, natural talent and conformation to become a high level dressage horse. Overall performance is more important than the details of the test. This includes the cooperation with the rider, natural balance, willingness to perform, and willingness to collect. Classes include the USEF 4 year old test, the FEI test for 5 , 6 and 7 year old horses.
A highly recognized veterinarian, researcher, and horse woman, Dr. Hilary Clayton, BVMS, PhD, Dipl. ACVSMR, FRCVS has performed innovative research for over 40 years in locomotor biomechanics, lameness, rehabilitation, conditioning programs for equine athletes, and the interaction between rider, tack, and horse. Dr. Clayton’s work on these topics have been published in seven books and over 200 scientific articles. During this session, Dr. Clayton will focus on how to train your eye to evaluate a horse’s biomechanics. USDF Continuing Education Credits are available to those who attend.
Special tickets are required. Doors open 9:30 AM, Lecture 10-12 and live commentary 1-3pm of the Young horse dressage tests in the Wheeler ring. Participants can earn USDF University credits.

Day 4 and the show now shifts to Dressage at Devon Performance show where top horse and riders come to compete in both rings.
The highly anticipated Dressage at Devon Hat Day returns to the Devon show grounds on Friday, September 29 around lunchtime and participants are in for a special treat this year. In addition to special prizes for a variety of categories, our celebrity judges are actor Grant Shaud and renowned milliner Tiffany Arey. Open to all.
Free admissions for anyone wearing a decorated hat from 8:00 – 11:30 AM. No free admission for baseball caps, riding helmets, sunscreen hats etc.
The Hat contest judging will take place during the lunch break. Exact time to be confirmed closer to the show.

Elite Grand Prix dressage riders “battling” to live music will be sure to bring new meaning to competing under the lights in the Dixon Oval!
Imagine a head-to-head breakdancing competition – for horses.
Horse and rider combinations will duel against one another to contemporary, LIVE music, with a panel of celebrity judges providing live commentary to determine the victor. The battle will consist of two rounds. Each round of battle will result in a winner who comes back for a final round, which will determine our 2023 Dance off champion.

Day 5 and the competition continues with both National and CDI classes during the day. The excitement builds for the “Saturday night under the lights” Grand Prix and Grand Prix Musical Freestyles.
Immediately prior to the Saturday night opening ceremonies in the Dixon Oval, there will be a Working Equitation demo with obstacles.
