FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DEVON, PA –
Hannah Irons has been selected to ride with Carl Hester in this year’s Masterclass at Dressage at Devon, presented by Capital Square. The Masterclass will take place in the historic Dixon Oval on Thursday, September 24, at 6:00 PM EST.
Hannah, a 26-year-old professional dressage rider from Queenstown, Maryland, will ride Ein Traum, her own six-year-old Westphalian gelding (Escamillo x Sandro Hit), bred by Katharina Grobe Hülsewiesche (GER).
“Carl Hester has been an inspiration to me since I was a little girl,” Hannah said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from him, as well as help share with the audience the joy of developing young horses. [I know] riding my special boy E.T. in this Masterclass will be a memory I will treasure for years to come.”
At just six years old, Ein Traum (“E.T”) has already accumulated an impressive list of career accolades. He has competed at Dressage at Devon three times and was named the 2025 Five Year-Old Materiale Champion. He has also qualified for the Young Horse Championships at the Festival of Champions (HITS Lamplight Equestrian Center, Wayne, IL) in 2025 and 2026 in the Five-Year-Old and Six-Year-Old Championships, respectively.
Though today Hannah is a successful young dressage professional, she wasn’t immediately drawn to the discipline.
“I began riding in 2007 and was mostly interested in jumping and eventing,” she recalled, “[but] that quickly changed when I had the opportunity to watch the Grand Prix freestyles at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky when I was 10 [in 2010].”
That fascination only compounded when Hannah first saw Edward Gal ride the legendary stallion Totilas. From there, her passion for dressage solidified, and she’s been pursuing the sport ever since. She became deepl involved in Lendon Gray’s Dressage 4 Kids program, spending two winters in the Winter Intensive Training program and progressing through the FEI youth divisions, from Ponies to Young Riders.
Following an impressive junior career, Hannah embarked on her professional journey. She spent five years as a working student under JJ Tate, Jaralyn Gibson, and Meagan Davis before launching her own business, Irons Sporthorses LLC, in 2020.
Today, Hannah, a USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist, manages and trains horses full-time in her program, where her primary focus is on starting young horses under saddle. She enjoys teaching, as well, and sharing her passion for dressage with riders of all skill levels. She trains with Ali Brock and Oded Shimoni, with whom she’ll spend this winter season in Florida.
“I hope that someday I can inspire the future of our sport to strive for higher standards of horsemanship,” Hannah said, “as so many have done for me.”
